A7N8X/Corsair/AMD related depression

Just put this rig together Ran smooth for 1-2 days at 166x11(7-3-3-2.5) then monitor would shut down, unable to switch off computer – have to unplug, wait a while then reboot or else warning beep would sound. At post «ADJUST CPU SPEED» message would appear. Temperature seems OK. Tried different mem. timings – same problem. Set BIOS to default 100x11, 2-2-2-5 – ran OK for while but eventually crashed, this time to desktop. All this began after opening an attachment from MS messenger (coincidence???) AV is up to date. Whatever, I’m really getting depressed with this whole situation. What could possibly be causing this? Could a fresh install of Windows possibly fix this? Or is this strictly a BIOS/harware issue? C’mon guys, I’m counting on you. What would be the best memory for this system? Please keep in mind - I'm not a billionnaire Thanks AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton 1.83GHz, 512k, 333FSB, s462, Arctic Cooling Copper Silent 2 Rev 2 heatsink & fan Asus A7N8X(Rev 2) Nvidia nForce2-S Chipset, AMD Motherboard, 200/266/333/400FSB Support Asus Radeon 9600 XT/TVD, 500 MHz Core, 128bit 128MB DDR (600 MHz) Powered by ATI Seagate 7200.7 80 GB Hard Drive, 2 MB Cache Antec SX 1030B Mid Tower Case Antec True380, 380 ATX Watt Power Supply, AMD Certified, TWO Thermal Controlled Variable Speed Fans 2 X Antec 80mm Smartcool, 1650 to 2850 RPM, Temperature Sensor, Variable speed case fans + assorted hardware

I would suggest Twinx512-2700LL for this MB and CPU. But if you want to use the memory you have I would try and set the timings manually to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and then please run www.memtest86.com on the system and if you get errors please test the modules one at a time and lets make sure it's not just a bad or weak module.
