Latency settings

Hello. I am having constant crashing whilst attempting to run Steinberg Cubase SX2 and Steinberg Wavelab software. As part of investigation of numerous possibilities for this, I would like to know if the BIOS memory settings could be playing a role. The motherboard is an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe. The memory is TWINX1024 3200XL PRO ultra low latency 2-2-2-5. Firstly, how do I determine if the MB is set to the correct settings for this memory? Secondly, is it possible that alternative settings or timings may solve this problem, and if so, what should they be and how does one adjust them?

Cheers all.

Check your BIOS to make sure it's set to these timings:

CAS Latency (tCL): 2

RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2

Row Precharge (tRP): 2

Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5

Memory Voltage: 2.75 Volts

All other settings to defaults.

Then test one stick at a time in each slot using Memtest86+.

Thank you Wired. If it turns out that these are in fact the current settings, should I try adjusting them to cure the problem? In other words, is it sometimes the case that more conservative timings are required in order for certain applications to run without problems?

Best regards,

Hassan.
