mp25bs
I have a problem with the vs512mb400c3 as well. I bought two sticks of that RAM for my new system and with both sticks in the computer the computer freezees especialy during 3d games. i tried the video card in another computer with the same game and it works ok. I removed one of the sticks of ram from the motherboard and everything works fine with one of them. I tried different slots on the motherboard, and the computer seems stable with one of the sticks in and it seems like the other one is defective. If i put in (alone) the one that i took out the computer continues to freeze. any suggestions would be appreciated. thx
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 6, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 6, 2005 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with wwww.memtest86.com! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. mp25bs
It took me a while to respond, i was out of town, but i got a chance to run memtest on the system today. I first ran memtest with the good module in the system, just to make sure that memtest would work ok. I read some posts where it said that it doesnt work 100% with athlon processors. So with the one stick of RAM, no errors were reported after going through all the tests. With the other stick of ram, memtest reported a lot of read/write errors in the memory adress of 318.5 MB. i tried different slots in the motherboard and still didnt change anything. Also tried adjusting the voltage first to 2.6 and then to 2.7 and that didnt help. Is there any way to fix this stick with some software, or is it condemned for an exchange.
