stage88
Hi there, I recently bought TWINX2048-3200C2 for a brand new system constisting of: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+A8N SLI DeluxeNVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTXTWINX2048-3200C2 (2x1Gb)Antec Phantom 500 PSUAntec P160 Case2x300Gb Maxtor HDD Raid 0 (SiImage SCSI Disk Device) Now, initally while i was installing WinXp Pro the system kept crashing ending up in blue screens with messages like "STOP 24", etc. It was really frustrating, however i managed to get through the install, many blue screens after. At that stage i have installed both modules as instructed by my mobo manual: in the blue slots. The BIOS settings for DDR have been left at AUTO. WinXp kept crashing usually bout 10 minutes after the bootup... I then changed the settings in the BIOS to the following: Mem clock index: 400MhzCAS: 2.5tRCD: 3tRP: 3tRAS: 6tRC: 11 - Would anyone know what this value should be? tRFC: 13 - Would anyone know what this value should be? tRWT: 5 - Would anyone know what this value should be? tWR: 3 - Would anyone know what this value should be? Timing: 2TDDRv: 2.75vCPU Freq: 200 - Is this correct?PCI Expres clock: 100 - Is this correct?CPU Multiplier: Auto - Is this correct?CPU Vol: Auto - Is this correct?PCI clock synch method: Auto - Is this correct? I run memtest and found that if i have both sticks installed, memtest fails at test 7. I swaped the sticks around and run memtest again with errors at test 7. I then took the stick from the second slot out run memtest and went just fine, no errors. Just to make sure, took that one, put the other one back in and tested again with no errors. So it looks like when the stick are paired they dont seem to work, but when single everything works fine. Ihave been runing the pc with only 1 stick and i havent yet noticed anything wrong. Please help, am i missing something obvoius? Regards, Sam

Your timings look fine, although your Command Rate should be 1T. May want to try them in a different system.
stage88
Appologies Wired, Last night i was able to find a BIOS config which seems to be working fine: Mem clock index: 333MhzCAS: 3Timing: 1TDDRv: 2.80v I have memtest-ed and found no errors at this stage. Run HalfLife 2 with video settings maxed out ( ) for bout 4 hours and that also went fine. I'll try to bump the Mem clock to 400Mhz and will post how it went. stage
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 9, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 9, 2005 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. . I tested the modules one at the time and got no error at 400mhz . If I put both both in and not touch bios, ie leave it index at 400mhz, it fails, sometimes will not even boot. If I lower it 333Mhz, both modules work fine, but that is not good beacause I am supposed to run them at 400..I am actually slowing my memory down. I heard from friends that the memory I puchased is not matched as it should be, so i think i got faulty memory is that so?

stage88
All the numbers are exactly the same... I will send the memory back for a replacement. Thanks for your help guys.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 30, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 30, 2005 That might suggest some other problem, but lets try replacing them and see what happens. stage88
Hi, What do you mean by That might suggest some other problem?
Garvin
Could be a problem with the memory controller on your Amd processor or the motherboard as well.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2005 Yes, or could be a power problem or some issue with the MB or MB bios! As long as both modules are the exact same part# and revision and both modules run one up with out problem that would suggest the memory controller is the problem. However, I have seen where the bios are not able to detect the CPU correctly will cause this as well. So please check that you have the latest bios from the MB maker as well. stage88
Would anyone know how i could test the memory controller? Also, i have test-ran the modules alone, and have found errors. I'll try now to test out the other parts. I will also do the 'out-of-the-box' instalation, i dont think any of my other components are faulty but i do think that there is a slight chance the Silicon raid controller is up to no good. Most of the blue screens are referencing ntfs.dll (i think thats what its called). However, you could be right about the memory controller... The supplier has tested the memory with no errors. On my pc, it seems that i can only have it when running the memory at 333MHz (and lower). Anything else produces STOPS. :(:
