huan Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 A few days ago my while playing WoW my system just started BSODing. All of the sudden I can't even fully boot windows without my computer restarting. I swapped my sticks out with some corsair value memory and the problems instantly go away. I decided to test the TWINX1024-4400C25PT sticks in two other boxes and everything seems perfectly fine (memtest and prime for 8 hours in each box without issue). I throw the sticks back in my main box and the problems resume (prime fails within 5 seconds of starting the test). For kicks I dropped the timing from 2.5-4-4-8 to 2-2-2-5 and now prime has been chugging along error free for over 12 hours. How probable is it that the memory was damaged somehow? (I previously ran the memory at 2.5-4-4-8 with no issue)
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 2, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted August 2, 2005 Probably not the modules, I would just run the memory at Cass 2-3-2-5 at 2.8 Volts at DDR400 and you should be fine!

Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 2, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted August 2, 2005 Yep, I would agree with Wired  !
huan Posted August 2, 2005 Author Posted August 2, 2005 Yep, I would agree with Wired  ! Yet why would the system work perfectly with any other set of memory I've thrown at it?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 2, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted August 2, 2005 Was it another set of this same part#? If not, its likely just a bios issue that will be resolved in a later version.

No, I dropped in two sticks of Corsair value memory and everything became stable. It still doesn't make sense being as I was running on the XMS memory for over a month rock solid at 2.5-4-4-8. At this point I'm leaning towards something going wrong with the DFI board
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 2, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted August 2, 2005 Please set the timings manually to Cass 2-3-2-5 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts. If you have not done so. If that solves the problem then I am sorry but its a MB issue. If you just want to get your modules replaced then by all means please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

I will set the timings as soon as I am at the PC and able to again. How likely is it that I will be able to run these sticks at 2-3-2-5 at 250?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 2, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted August 2, 2005 No you would need to run them at 200 Mhz at these settings.
