jedigriever Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 im thinking of buying an ABIT AS8-V, a pentium 4 531 3.0Ghz or 541 3.2Ghz processor and also either a twinx1024-3200c2 or a cmx1024-3200c2pro. my power supply is a 380w antec power supply. which RAM module/modules will be better for this kind of system? i also plan on upgrading my ram to 2GB in the future. if i buy a cmx1024 will it work as an optimised pair if i buy another cmx1024 in the future? by the way im not a hardcore gamer (well just a little bit i guess). just want the computer to be fast, reliable and i'll want it to last for years  . i'll most likely use it for watching movies and converting video files such as avi to dvd formats. thanks..
jedigriever Posted August 2, 2005 Author Posted August 2, 2005 by the way, is there much difference if i choose the value select instead of the cmx ones?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 5, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted August 5, 2005 XMS modules are actually our highend performance memory modules; which is 10-15% faster than the regular memory module.
ernestogaleano Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 I have an Asus A8V-E Deluxe motherboard with Sapphire X850XT, AMD64 3200+, 2x74 GB raptor in RAID 0, PSU Enermax EG495AX 485W and my last addition was a 1 GB CMX1024-3200PRO. When I ordered the RAM I told the salesperson I wanted some high performance Corsair memory... she ordered the CMX1024-3200PRO for me but after reading many posts in this forum I realised that perhaps I have not gotten the best deal. I found other Corsair memory compatible with my system that runs faster and has better overall performance. What memory would you recommend, the options I have are either buy TwinX paired memory blocks and use the CMX1024-3200PRO on another system...or buy another CMX1024-3200PRO block and have it run in Dual Channel... how will I get the best performance? I am not a hardcore overclocker but have a system ready for it if it need be with liquid cooling and aftermarket air cooling. I do play games often but nowdays the GPU takes more of that load than the CPU. Hope someone can give me some advice and/or point me in the right direction... Thanks for your time Ernesto
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 10, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted August 10, 2005 I would suggest you get another module like what you have now (Same exact part# and revision) for best performance with 2.0 Gig of memory.
Kevin Proost Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Hi peepz, i've got a lil' question. Currently i've got a pair of Corsair 2x512MB PC3200@222 XL Xpert TwinX DDR SDRAM "in the old bin". Now i want to upgrade with an extra 2 GB of memory (of course Corsair :D: ) I was thinking putting up the Corsair 2x1GB PC3200@233 TwinX DDR SDRAM together with the previous pair. Is this realistic ? Or which mem would be best for my system ? Cuz i'm feelin' that it ain't giving me the results i wanna. (Ps: I'm a gamer/audio-freak/designer) Thanx a load for the reply already ;): :D:
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 21, 2006 Corsair Employee Posted January 21, 2006 No sorry you cannot mix memory with the MB you have listed it would likely not post!
