One bad stick and one good stick in 1GB Kit

Hi Ram Guy,

I purchased a VS1GBKIT400 1GB Kit DDR400 PC3200 CAS2.5 from ZipZoomFly on Apr 7, 2005. This, of course, included two memory sticks with serial numbers 783-0514076-0-322506 and 783-0514076-0-322589. The memory with the serial number 783-0514076-0-322589 has developed problems.

I have tried using both of these memory modules in two different machines. On the one machine with an Intel P4, the machine won't boot up. On the Athlon 64 machine if I use the good module it will boot with just that module. But, if I use the bad module in any configuration I get three beeps during POST.

I believe that I need to at least get a replacement for the bad module. However, I'm wondering since I want to use this in a dual channel configuration if I need to return both modules? I look forward to your help.

Thanks,

Dale Hooper
