l33tpenguin Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Dear RAM Guy, I'm rather pleased to say that in my many years of using Corsair RAM, yours is my only choice when it comes to memory, this is the first time I have ever experienced a problem with it. To start, I have had my system running for several months without problem. My system consists of 2x Seagate Barracuda SATA drives (that will be in RAID here shortly) with a Pentium 4 3200 CPU, 1 gigabyte of Corsair DDR2 XMS2 memory (in synchronous mode), nVidia geForce 6800 GT 256 on an Abit Fatal1ty board. After returning home from an extended vacation I powered up my computer only to have that eardrum piercing screech of the BIOS informing me that something is wrong. Referring to the guide for my motherboard I found that the problem resided in either the RAM or the motherboard itself. So, I popped off the side of my case, peered around and removed both modules and gave them a look over, as if I could determine the problem simply by looking at them, right? First I tried putting the first stick back in, then powered up my computer. Same ear splitting scream. So I dropped the power again and popped it back out. I then installed the other module in the first position and booted my computer. Couple beeps later and I'm watching Windows load happily. Start, Shutdown and back inside the case. I left the one module where it was and installed the other in the second position. Power on and watch the memory check top out at half a gig, half of what should be in there. I was hoping it was my motherboard, to be honest. I accidentally ended up with two Fatal1ty boards and can't return the second one. This would have given me an excuse to return it for a refund. Alas, as far as I can tell, I have a bad memory module and need to follow through with what I need to do with replacing it. And World of Warcraft can be such a memory hog :( At least CS:S still runs well Regardless, I plan on purchasing another gigabyte of cosair DDR2 when it is financially convenient and look forward to many more years of enjoying the quality of your products. Sincerely, Russell McClendon
