hi

i just bought a new vs512mb400 to add to my existing same one

i followed the mobo (asus a8n-e) manual and put the two modules on a1 and b1 slots for dual channel and then the computer wouldn t boot (just beeps)

each ram module works fine by it self and passes the memtest

i tried moving them around to a2 b2 with no luck

when i put themn on a1a2 the computer works but saying that i still have only 512

any help would be great

thanks

Please make sure they are the same exact part# and then please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings to "BY SPD" and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.

but i found on the mobo manual that it doesnt support 2 vs512mb400 in dual channel (but supports one or 4  )

so i returned those two and got a pair of xms that works just fine

those asus guys should focus harder

thanks again
