ShuckyD Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 My specs are listed in the forum, but for faster reference i have a AMD XP-3500 64bit processor Socket 939 and a ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe Motherboard (1600 Hyper Transport (FSB)) well i had two 512 sticks of DDR400 XMS memory in my system, but i just bought another stick to add to the two, which in theory would make it have 1.5 gigs. But for some reason when i boot with the memory installed, it recognizes it as 512 megs? My board is set up with 4 slots for memory (A1, A2, B1, B2) currently i have the A1, and the B1 slots taken up, since thats what the manual said to do if you just running 2 sticks... well i have all 3 sticks in front of me, well the 2 sticks i had in there were revision 6.1 CL2.5, and revision 5.1 CL2 (ran 1gig fine) and this new stick is Revision 5.2 CL2... but the cl2 and the 2.5 work fine in there together. I also tried putting the CL2.5 in sloot A1 and followed with the 2 sticks of Cl2, because i was told to try that and clear the cmos just 2 see if it worked? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated  I attached a picture along to make everything simply cut and dry, if there is anything more i can do please let me know, if it would just be easier to get another stick of that "new" memory and pake it 2 gigs i would if it will recognize it all.... thanks so much
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted July 20, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted July 20, 2005 With this platform you cannot mix memory and or speed grades. All of the modules you use would need to be exactly matched. In addition, this platform can run 1, 2 or 4 modules but I do not see any support for 3 modules. Also with more than 2 double sided modules it may need to run at DDR333 as well? I would suggest you just use the 2 modules that math for best performance and if you need more memory it would be best to replace the modules you have with one Twinx2048-3200 for best performance.
ShuckyD Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 wouldnt i need another pair of "twinX" memory to go along with that, or can i just run that one stick your referring to? Im about to order than so that it may be here before the weekend. Is there anything i should look out for and a certain # of CAS i should go with? please refer to my picture, i was suprised i didnt have any problems with a CAS 2 and 2.5 running together? Is there just a 512mb stick i can buy that would work fine? WHen u said with this platform i cannot mix memory and/or speed grades.. All the memory is the same, manufactuer (different revisions) (one with diff. CAS, although it worked fine) all DDR400? whats wrong :[pouts:
Wired Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 CMX512-3200 6.1 CMX512-3200C2 5.1 CMX512-3200C2 5.2 2 different models, 3 different revisions, ergo 3 different ICs (Integrated chips). Three completely different sticks.
Smooth_Criminal Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Hello.. I hav an Asus A8N SLi Deluxe MoBo+ AMD Athlon 3500+ 939 Processor. I hav 3 X 512 Corsair CMX512-3200C2PRO RAM.. Two of them version 5.1 and the same manufacturing year and month and the other version 2.1 Well till now I had v2.1 and 5.1 installed in A1 and B1 slot in Dual channel. But when I came to know even versions play part I switched the Rams both to v5.1.I hav Same problem, my Mobo is not booting up with I am installing 3 RAM's (v5.1,v5.1,v2.1) But it boots well with either of the two version combinations with two modules.. does that mean I cant hav 3 RAM modules installed on my MoBo? I also heard that a dummy RAM module canbe installed to fool the computer in thinking that all the four slots are full. I also read in my MoBo's module that the CMX512-3200C2 series doesnt hav a support for 4 slot in my MoBo. So wht will be the best opinion for me?? 1) will my Mobo Run on 3 RAMs? 2) Will it run to the best performance If I install 4 CMX512-3200C2PRO RAM's? 3) Will it run to the fullest with I hav 2 of the CMX Rams and other two of different models?? 4) Or any other best option? How should I know if my RAM running on 400 Mhz with the best settings??? Plz help.
ShuckyD Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 what i was told when i tried to do a similar thing, and i read in that mobo manual, is that it recognizes 1,2, and 4 sticks not 3. so your best bet would get 2 identical or all 4 identical, or even 2 identical, and the other 2 identical... Good Luck, i still got my 3rd sitck sitting here since i cant use it
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 2, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted August 2, 2005 You are right, you can use 1,2 or 4 modules but 3 would not be suggested and all of the modules you use would need to be exactly matched.
