Right, as you can probably see, im a noob around here :) now i see that this isnt the exact place to ask this but seeing as the people around here seem a whole lot more clued up than me or anyone else i know for matter of fact, i figure i may as well ask.

Unfortuneatly for me, my old motherboard got fried in the thunderstorms the other week (phone line got surged) so i am in need of a new one, now this is going to be a complete upgrade, to a top spec system, im looking at putting in a socket 939 processor, new motherboard, and a G-card, the G-card is going to be either a 7800GTX or a ATi R520 core when it comes out depending on when i get it all. the query is (eventually) what would be the best socket 939 motherboard to use (for gaming) and what memory would match it best. im thinking of a amd 3*** Venice core not decided yet but not going to be getting an FX55 or X2 just to much money.

So yeah.. hello and any ideas? thanks muchly

Welcome to our little corner of the web. You have come to the right place. There are a couple really good 939 boards out there right now, DFI NF4 (all of them) and ASUS A8N-SLI Premium. A lot of it will come down to personal taste. I prefer ASUS but the DFI board has much more overclocking potential. The Premium board supposedly clocks just as well as the DFI, but since I dont have one I can not vouch for it. If you are planning on overclocking I would suggest the Twinx1024-4400C25. If you are planning on leaving it close to stock and are playing the lastest games I would suggest the Twinx2048-3200C2.

Thank you, hopefully nice to be here :)

So is the 3200 better at stock settings than the 4400??

Im trying to get some prices from my suppliers for an abit fatal1ty (mainly because they supply Abit) but they are taking there time, they have an Asus on the price list at £115 and its an A8N sli- Deluxe?? im presuming that is the same as the premier. they dont supply DFi which would just look real cool if/when i get my thermaltake shark :).

What do you reakon?
