ijakings Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Hi i originally bought a Gigabyte GA-K8VT800 with some 512 Value select 3200 and recently i bought some 512 XMS3200. I cant get them to work together and give me 1gb. I can make them work on their own fine but when i put them both in they wont register with 1gig. Ive updated my bios to the latest version but it hasnt made a difference. Is there any way i can get these two to work together. I dont care if i have to lower their speed I just want the 1gb ive payed for.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted July 19, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted July 19, 2005 I am sorry but with this chipset you cannot mix memory, you would need to use modules that are exactly matched both in part# and revision.
ijakings Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 is this a hardware thing on the chipset or is it something that could be reccomended for gigabyte to try to help with in their next BIOS update?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted July 20, 2005 Corsair Employee Posted July 20, 2005 This is a limitation of the memory controller in the CPU!
