mauskaputt Posted Thursday at 05:37 PM Posted Thursday at 05:37 PM after 3,5 years of use, the scrollwheel encoder seems to have died on me i know, weekly "the scrolling doesnt work" topic (shouldnt they have noticed this pattern by now?) soo, either the scrolling isnt even registered or it jumps up and down, leading to no progress, most often even the opposite (although scrolling up works better than scrolling down, somehow, still not great though) on websites i have resorted to holding the scrollwheel down to hold-scroll or actually used the mouse to move the bar, but many games become near unplayable without a proper scrollfunction on many forums i have heard that often times, just disassembling the mouse and cleaning the encoder mechanism can help the problem, atleast for a short while so i dissassembled the mouse, removed alot of dust (sadly that wasnt the fix), but to my dismay, the encoder is closed ontop, unlike most other mouse models in discussions on this topic, this mouse seem to have an enclosed encoder, so i cant clean it with alcohol or wd40 and stuff... im not an expert on these things, so i dont know if i can somehow open it and clean it then, but i have neither knowledge nor tools to archieve this so completely exchanging the encoder (a bit of soldering i suppose) could help, but then i need to know the model and actually find it to buy, wich i havent yet also any mouse repair services i could find in my region and the corsair warehouse sparepart shipping cost where all rather expensive to the point where i could just buy another new mouse instead, but i dont want to do that i have also seen in other topics than mice can be soft reset, but that didnt help either (obviously) so, is there a way for me, an amateur, to somehow diassemble the encoder to clean it without breaking it? (i mean if it was closed i dont know if there even is dirt inside? so is the encoder just defect afterall?) or is there a known sparespart i could buy for cheap so i could exchange it myself? or is there another (cheap) option i could do to help with this? or is there another option i havent even considered yet? it is all just so frustrating....
