Milklyzrd Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Hi all, I turned on my PC this morning and noticed none of my icue link fans, or the cooler pump, is running. The PC shut down within a minute and don't have enough time to get to the icue software. I can get into BIOS and it will happily be there for all of about 3 minutes before shutting down. I'm no wizard so I'm not overly familiar with what I need to be looking at. My one case fan that isn't in the link system works fine but am I right in thinking the icue link doesn't let you do anything in BIOS with them? I've ordered a replacement hub to see if it was that but I'm hoping someone has encountered this issue or could shed some light and point me in the right direction. Thanks all in advance
c-attack Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Pump is definitely not running. I assume this is a CUE Link AIO and not a Hydro X CUE Link system. With the PC shutdown flip the PSU switch off, then hold down the case power button for 10 sec to drain any remaining power. Hard to believe the 6 pin power cable could come loose, but you might as well disconnect and reconnect it -- someone will ask later. PSU back on and start normally. You can stop in the BIOS and see if the CPU temp is still rapidly escalating or already at a high mark. The full power cycle forces the controller to check it's connections again. I'm hopeful this works and the situation doesn't read like an "AIO pump fail" that would produce these temps, but not the complete power loss. The other thing to check is the primary CUE Link cable coming out of the Hub and leading to the first fan or AIO. Obviously if you have devices on both channels (sides) of the hub, this probably is not the solution as one would still be on. Blown hub is possible, but I've only seen one or two of these and it happened along with some type of power event.
WillyWill2475 Posted October 17 Posted October 17 (edited) I am having the same issue. I have all new iCUE Link hardware (that cost me over $600.00) with no OS installed yet. I can't install an OS because the AIO and fans are not powering on, so my new processor is overheating and shuts down after a few minutes due to not being cooled. The RAM, video card, and motherboard are all working fine and receiving power from the PSU. I have checked all connections, power cycled, and changed hubs multiple times with no luck. I have read in multiple forums that this seems to be an issue for some people, but I haven't found an answer to get it all working. PLEASE HELP!! Edited October 17 by WillyWill2475

Hey, Try connecting fans directly to HUB for a couple of seconds. You should see hardware lighting and fans spinning before CPU reaches any critical level. If everything is OK, test second port on the hub. Make sure you test both connections on the fans, from FAN1 to FAN 3 on AIO. Result should be the same. Also, please make sure power cable of the hub is firmly pushed in the hub, I had couple of them where I had to push a little harder for 'click' to happen. If you get fans spinning, disconnect everything and connect single cable to the AIO header (test both headers). If pump is working, you should hear it and LEDs of the pump should light up in default hardware mode. Don't forget to test with multiple cables. This will sound dump, but please check 6pin PCIe power cable that its properly connected in the HUB cable.
WillyWill2475 Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Ok, I walked through those steps and still nothing. Just seems like the iCUE Link AIO and fans aren't getting any power to them. I also tried plugging the power cable that goes into the PSU into a different slot and changed out the actual cable. I'm lost at what the problem is.

Considering that fans are not spinning even when connected directly to the hub, you should warranty it. IDK what else you can do at this point.
