FearTheTerp
I have just recieved another stick of CMX512-3200C2. This will be my second one, the problem is, I have difficulty to get the RAM to runs stabily in dual channel mode. Both sticks check okay one stick at a time, even if their running at a higher frequency, but I cannot get them to run stabily at 2.5-3-3-6 in dual channel mode at 200 MHZ. v1.1 0323102 (old stick i had) v4.2 0521128-0 (stick I got today) Is there a problem with the revisions and the compatibility? How do I get them to work in dual channel stabily?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 15, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 15, 2005 I would not suggest running 2 different modules in dual channel as that may make the system unstable. I would install them in slots 1-2 and with the CPU you have you will need to set the memory frequency at DDR333 and I would set the timings to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 at 2.7 Volts and test the system with http://www.memtest.org to be sure its stable. FearTheTerp
I got it to run at DDR 166 at 2-2-2-5 and it passed memtest 86. Wouldn't this sorta negate the usefulness of getting pc3200 ram? This is sorta annoying, would it run better without dual channel with it running at a FSB of 200 and timings of 2-3-3-6? And their not different modules, their only different revisions. Both of them are CMX512-3200c2.
Wired
Run the system @ stock speeds first. It may be your OC giving out. Also, he's right, it's never recommended to mix modules of different revisions (different ICs). While your system may be able to handle 2 sticks of different ICs, it could hamper your OC. FearTheTerp
I tried it at stock speeds, then setting my RAM freqnency at 120% which would make it 200 MHZ and the computer wouldn't boot. I set the FSB to 215 (highest it would go before it wouldn't boot) and set the memory frenquency to 85% making it 179. I could run the latencies at 2-3-3-8. Why won't it hit 200! this is just a total heartache.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 19, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 19, 2005 With that CPU you would need to set he Memory frequency at 100% and I would set dim voltage to 2.75 Volts if you can.
