case 1000d icue link

Hi everyone, I have a big doubt,

I have a PC with an Obsidian 1000D case with fans and heatsink connected with wire,

so behind the case I have 3 icue pro controllers,

I would like to switch to the icue link system

but my doubt is if I remove all the controllers and put the new ones on, how do I control the LEDs on the front panel and the logo?

because now I control them with the controller that I found with the case but if I remove that I don't know how to control those LEDs

You will need to keep the Commander Pro that came with the case and is connected via the LED port to that front panel LED.  You can use CUE Link for all the other fans, but it does not have LED strip or 3rd party adapter capability yet.

Dovrai tenere il Commander Pro fornito con il case e collegato tramite la porta LED a quel LED del pannello frontale. Puoi usare CUE Link per tutte le altre ventole, ma non ha ancora la capacità di striscia LED o adattatore di terze parti.

thanks can I connect the icue link controller to the pro controller using the USB ports or does it just not work?

There is no device <-> device direct communication.  All of that goes to the motherboard and software, then back to other controllers.  Those USB ports on the Commander Pro are unpowered passthrough ports.  It's like using a USB splitter.  It can work with low level devices like PSUs and Lighting Node Pro controllers (what was around when it was designed), but it does not work well for chaining more complex controllers like Commanders, CUE Link Hub, or complex controllers from other brands.  You may have a powered USB hub already, but if not you should be able to get by with 2 USB 9 pin ports - 1 for CUE Link hub and 1 for the original Commander Pro.

Non c'è comunicazione diretta dispositivo <-> dispositivo. Tutto ciò va alla scheda madre e al software, quindi torna ad altri controller. Quelle porte USB sul Commander Pro sono porte passthrough non alimentate. È come usare uno splitter USB.

I have one of these https://www.corsair.com/it/it/p/pc-components-accessories/cc-9310002-ww/corsair-internal-4-port-usb-2-hub you say it can be fine to connect the new icue link controller?

Yes, that is a powered hub and should be just fine.  Not too many Link hub connectivity issues either way.

Hi Guys,

i have the 1000D case as well i have seen the icue link series and wanted to change over cos it less wires and mess with it been alot more mangeable then old system. i been doing a lot of reading about seeing the amount of fans one can use wanted to know can we use 4 link fans in a row or is three the limit. Cos i have 8 for the intake 8 are the the top to expell the heat and two at the back for the exhaust. having a set of 4-4 front 4-4 top and 2 for back 18 in total with the cap now been 24.

The maximum limit is 12 “devices” per side or 24 in total for each CUE Link Hub. However, once you get to 8 devices on a side there is a 10% brightness reduction for each additional fan. There is no connectivity limit aside from this and I could physically interlock 12 fans on the desk and run it one side of the hub, albeit at 50% brightness because of the number.

You’ll want the front 8 on the same series and there is no way to break an interlocked fan off into a separate chain. Two ways you can deal with this.

1) Run the front 8 as a group to one side of the hub and the remaining 10 to the other side. 30% brightness reduction. You don’t really need the max brightness and it will make your fans last longer. I used to run a 30% shade reduction on my QX because they were too bright in comparison to rest of my gear.

2) Run two hubs. Front 8 as 4+4. The other hub will be 6 + 4. This keeps you under the brightness trigger but more importantly it might help with cable length. The 1000D tends to push the limits on this and it will allow to mount each hub closer to the fans they service.
