Dominator Titanium DDR5 compatible with 12700K?

I have a 14700K build with a 32GB (2x16) Dominator Titanium DDR5-7200 kit.

It's been in use for less than 2 months and it seems like my CPU is already displaying signs of the instability/degradation that is plaguing many 13th & 14th Gen Intels.

I can't afford to have a CPU that I can't rely on, so I'm considering refunding it with Intel warranty and buying a 12700K instead as that generation doesn't seem to have these problems and will work with my Z790 DDR5 board.

I understand that asking a 12th gen chip to run 7200 Mt/s is too much. I don't mind disabling the XMP and running at stock 4800 Mt/s. If I do that, can I expect the kit to work with the 12700K?

I'm asking because the product page of my RAM lists only 13th gen & newer - but I reckon that's for its full rated speed?

Shouldn't any DDR5 kit work with 12th gen as long as I run it at stock speeds? Please let me know if that isn't so and I have to budget for buying a new kit as well.

DDR5 will work with any CPU that supports DDR5. the speed will mostly be based on how good your CPU's memory controller will be, the good ol' silicon lottery.

Without going to extremes like disabling XMP, you could also enable it and drop the speed manually to realistic frequencies like 6000 - 6200.

Remember the memory QVL and other compatibility sheets is only what pairings the manufacturers happen to have tested, often meaning they managed to boot without further lengthy stabily tests. in the end, it's just DDR5.
