bad module?

Recommended Posts

i have a msi m/board....865pe/g neo2 with pent4 2.8

i went to upgrade my system with new vidio card (radeon x700pro) and i wanted to double my memory at the same time.

i purchased another stick (vs512mb400) to match what i allready had in there

(this is a home built system) its been working fine for the last year.

problem was when i turned it on the new memory stick went up in smoke!

has a nice burn mark on two of the "fingers" and a nice burn mark on the mother board as well!

everything still works (*thank god) but what do i do now?

was it a "bad stick" ?

can i get reimbursed for my motherboard?

should i just use one of the other memory slots and try another stick?

all parts were bought at "fry's electronics" if that matters

I would suggest you ask the MB maker about their RMA and see if they will replair or replace the MB. For the modules, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
