Chilli pepper
I have an Asus rog maximus hero z790, I-913900k, 128gig corsair vengence ddr5.... My problem is the display on the pump has never worked, and since the build, I have never had control of the rgb. I have rechecked, a dozen times and also rewired several more. I am certain I am wired correctly, actually its idiot proof, and I am an Idiot... 🙂 so I have control of pwm side, and i have control of the rgb for the ram, I have a total of ten sp120 elite fans, of those three are lit red, and 1 blue. no others are lit, and I cant change any color via software. DB1
Silly question(s), but does iCue see all of the components, and is all of the firmware up to date for those components?

What the lighting controllers for these?  Commander Core and XT controllers automatically should detect these as “8 led fan series” but all other controllers must be manually set. Do not set them as “SP-RGB”. That is a much older and incompatible fan with a lot of gear. It causes weird behavior when selected, much like what you described.  The LCD tops are fiddly beyond belief and also have multiple potential connection problems. It can be physical for power delivery, like the wide 22 pin into the Commander Core or the plastic shell doesn’t sit right on the pump block. When you are messing with this, shutdown the system and flip the PSU off. That will force the unit to do a full check in the next power on. Also, if you use Windows fast boot then you aren’t really turning a lot of these components of when shutdown.  When you say the display has never worked, do you mean it’s not detected and you see a Commander Core instead?  That the lcd top is detected, but its controls are missing from the menu?  Or the lcd top is missing, the screen options present, but the unit does not respond to change? So, I have uninstalled and reinstalled aio in another rig, and it has the same issue. I have tried every avenue I know of including turning fast boot off, and resetting power to get the block to reset. The commander sees the fans, but will not controll the rgb, however I do have control of speed!
