H150i Elite LCD pump question

For the past two days I have been having some issues with the H150i and fluctuating temperatures.  it likes to constantly fluctuate from 105 to 109 and 111, after I start playing any game for a couple of minutes.  Never had these issues before.  If I keep playing a game during the fluctuations, it will start to reach temps of over 130 F and fluctuate still.  Even when Idle or just browsing the internet it has been shown to fluctuate around 102-105 when it used to sit around 93-96.  I did update to the new iCUE software recently but not sure if that is the issue, possibly the cooler or something else entirely.

130F or 54C is out of bounds and suggests a flow or mechanical issues. Flow issues like some kind of blockage are typically not so variable. The temp simply keeps going up the longer the pc is on. If you look at the rpm graph for the prior 5-10 min interval, do you see a lot of drops or spikes in rpm?  Not the normal rolling 2238-2248-2224 kind of stuff, but large drops of several hundred rpm.

Either way, start a support ticket now. The AIO clearly has some type of issue and this is heading toward replacement. This is not normal behavior or something you can cause by pushing the wrong button.

update: I have started a support ticket when I wrote up this back on Wednesday, just haven't heard back yet.  also yesterday just booted up the PC and the temp began to climb to about 98F before fluctuating between 96F, 98F and 102F.  eventually went around to 104F, 105F ,107F.  CPU seems to be doing fine.  The CPU was sitting around 46C-50C, and the cooler was bugging out as stated above.

Also, thanks for the reply really appreciate it.

Are you running any other monitoring software like Aida64 or HWinfo?  Other programs that try to poll Corsair devices at the same time as CUE can cause some issues. Normally it’s ridiculous values like 66,000 rpm or 627C, but it is possible it’s not quite so obvious.

I think the temp sensor in the pump is not up to spec, but be careful with AIDA/HWiNFO.  We've had people rush to RMA and replace, only to then see the same problem on the new unit.  One possible way to assess this is to open up the task manager and kill CUE, the CPUID service, and the Corsair.Service 32 bit.  Then go ahead and launch HWInfo and let it read the pump.  Does the temp jump there too?  If so, that is pretty strong evidence the temp sensor is flaky.

update: So, I booted up the pc and killed all the processes that you stated above.  opened HWInfo and saw that the pump temp was stable around 30C.  left it to run for 10ish minutes and when I came back temp was around 32C but stable.  Sat on the 32C for a bit and it didn't have any big spikes in temp.  booted iCUE and all my setting applied, and I was sitting around a steady 33C for a bout 12ish minutes. Then, it began to spike in temp from 33C to fluctuating 38C to 40C constantly.  I turned all processes off again for iCUE and the temp on the LCD screen brought itself back down to 36C and has been stable ever since.  I turned iCUE back on and the tempo rose up to about 38C and then to 40C and started to fluctuate.

update:  uninstalled and repaired iCUE still gives me the issue.  I noticed even with all the processes above ended the cooler's lights (on fans and LCD) stayed on and temps fluctuated.  this didn't not happen on the first to two tests stated above.  even when the iCUE was not installed the cooler lit up and began to have the temperature fluctuations. Now currently with no Corsair processes running in task manger, the lights are on with temp fluctuations.  When there were no lights, there was no issues with temp fluctuations.

Weird. I am wondering about a software/firmware issue with the LCD top and we saw a form of this in the past, but I am really surprised to see it again. Can you clarify which H150i Elite Capellix model you have?  The one with that name?  Or the newer version with XT tacked on the end?

Definitely time to contact Corsair Support. They might replace the top anyway, but that HWinfo test tells me that’s not exactly the problem. They might also ask you to clean install CUE. Up to you if you want to beat them to punch and save a back and forth email exchange. Make sure you export and valuable profiles before doing the clean install.

** you got ahead of me on uninstall and repair. Not surprised it didn’t change. This reads like a firmware issue on early models.

update: I noticed the ring light that goes around the LCD was only working in the bottom left corner.  went into iCUE and turn the entire ring back on and the temperature began to jump.  I would turn the ring light off and the temperature would go back to being stable. did it a couple times and the same thing happened.

I think Corsair needs to replace the lcd top. It's not just a flashy display and determines what data is sent back to CUE. This could be one of the originals still floating around or a simple manufacturing defect, but it seems clear this one has a few issues. Hang in there for Corsair Support. They are going to run you through the reconnect and power cycling troubleshooting. Make sure you detail what you’ve already done in the ticket to avoid unnecessary back and forth.
