JasonN Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Hi, Page 2 of the manual for my Corsair 4000D shows the contents of the accessory kit including 18x MDB/HDD screws, which are shown in the illustration as truss-head phillips screws. In the box i received, everything there is accountable except instead of having 18 of these screws, I have 18 similar-sized screws with a pan head and phillips/slot combination. I wouldn't sweat the difference in head style, except that when I try to use one of these to secure my HDD through the holes on the side of my drive sled, it feels dangerously tight (like I might be damaging something) and doesn't seem to safely go in all the way. These screws fit nicely into the kit motherboard standoffs and the ones that come installed in the motherboard area of the case already. Did I get a case with the wrong screws, or am I missing something? Are these not the right screws to be using for the HDD? No screws came with my HDD.
LeDoyen Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 usually, HDD use a finer thread. Motherboard screws typically do not fit there unless you make them, by cross threading them by force. if you try the SSD one, do they fit?
JasonN Posted March 12, 2023 Author Posted March 12, 2023 Didn't try the SSD ones. I ended up taking the drive to a local computer repair place and fishing around in their big tub of spare screws until we found a couple that fit. Not the most elegant solution but it worked.
