PC3200 DDR Running at 333MHz

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a new computer with two sets of Corsair VS1GBKIT400 (a total of four 512MB DDR DIMMs). The system consists of Chaintech VNF4 Ultra mobo, AMD Venice Athlon 64 3200+, 485W enermax PS, ATI PCI-E X800 video. My problem is: when I go into my bios the RAM is being reported correctly - 400MHz, But when my system boots up the splash screen that comes on upon booting reports the RAM is running at 333MHz. I do have the ability to adjust the voltage to the RAM in the bios but was hoping for some advice prior to doing that. I am using the latest bios update from Chaintech. Please help. Also, is there a technical data sheet for this RAM? I checked the Corsair website but it doesn't appear to have much beyond marketing material. Thank you in advance.

This is correct, the memory controller will by default set the memory frequency at DDR333 when you have more the 4 ranks of memory installed and all 512 Meg and larger modules would be double ranked.
