Commander core reset and buying a new Commander core

Recommended Posts

HI,

how I can reset the Commander core module?

I see that there is a little hole that could be pressed with a needle, but what is the exact procedure to operate for reset the module?

How I can check if the Command core is damaged?

And in that case, is it possible to buy a new one?

Thanks in advance.

I asked for the procedure to reset the Commander CORE, and not the Commander pro.

Thanks anyway.

What is the actual issue with the Com Core?  Pinhole resets will not resolve most Elite Capellix issues but will make a mess of your profiles. I would only try this on a Com Core that is “bricked” or otherwise not responding. This will not help with detection issues.

You're right, it was just a desperate attempt, we all have the same problem and Corsair support is not able to solve it...

The situation is really disheartening, spending 350 euros for an unusable item is really absurd.

Unfortunately while a lot of the Commander Core/Elite Capellix issues appear the same on the surface, there are several different underlying causes.  This can make it difficult to identify.  I am pretty much burnt out on this issue, but we can try and work through it.  Are you having a detection issue?  Commander Core?  LCD or pump top?  Both?

Well, initially everything worked fine, then after the latest iCUE software update, the LCD display started showing the red error triangle and the software no longer recognizes the pump and the LCD display, it only sees the Commander core.  The only things that work are the speed adjustment of the fans AND of their colors.

So you still can see the Commander Core in CUE, but the LCD top has disappeared and it shows the Com Core picture instead?  Also there is NO "pump fail" error message and the pump continues to work even though you can't control it?  The red triangle is a general error warning, something like the 'check engine' light in your car.  It tells you something is wrong without actually telling you anything.

If the above is true, you most likely have a communication issue between the Com Core and LCD top.  First step should be the "power down and reconnect" method.  You've probably already done it, but full shut down, PSU flipped OFF, and then disconnect the 20+ wide cable from the side of the Com Core.  Then reconnect it making sure the white stripe is lined up.  If you have the LCD top, then you need to remount it on the plastic base for that connector.  Either one of those can trigger the red (!) and loss of control.  Flip the PSU back on and start up normally. The full power cycle forces both the Com Core and LCD top to do a deep check on power on and hopefully that brings things around.

So right after you installed 4.33?  I didn't see any Elite Capellix specific updates in there, but you can pursue this side as well.  Below is the download link for 4.32.  Uninstall 4.33 and make sure you don't remove the profiles.  CUE saved your prior 4.32 state before the update in the App Data folder.  Uninstall 4.33 from the Windows Apps list.  Download and install 4.32.  See if that does it.  You also could clean install 4.33, but that comes with all the usual set up for the first time work, so it would not be my first option.  Make sure you export any valuable profiles before the clean install.  You cannot roll back to old files after this since it wipes out that folder.

I've already done everything you suggested, the only software operation I haven't done yet is go to the Windows 11 device settings and remove the Commander core.

I haven't done it yet because unfortunately I'm in the hospital these days and the computer is at home.

This is the last hope I have left of solving the problem...

Thanks so much anyway for your advices.

You uploaded a new firmware ? It's something bete ? Where did you find it ?

Windows 11 detects all the hardware, but not the iCUE 4 program...

Thanks in advance.

Was only solved by replacing the pump(entire cooler).

We had to do an advanced RMA.

I received the entire kit, with the pump, but I thought the problem was in the lcd screen or in the Commander Core, because the pump refresh regularly the processor.

Anyway I am firmly convinced that is a software problem, we need a new firmware or a new version of iCUE 4 program.

I would not sit idly and wait for a software correction.  This has been an issue since launch across a score of different versions.  Most users have a connection issues, some have hardware issues, very few are pure software error.

The zero degrees on the LCD top and it's missing presence in CUE suggests the issue is the connector, wires, or mounting of the LCD top.  There are countless threads and one large collection thread, but generally speaking the user remedies are the ones above.  A Commander Core issue would also affect the base functions of that device, so it is more likely to be upstream.  There are only so many times you can power down, flip the PSU off, reseat the LCD top, and try again.  I would continue to press Support about the LCD top.
