Bert-63
The adapter it ships with has availability for four 8 pin inputs. Corsair's cable that is for sale here only shows two 8 pins going to the power supply on one end and the 12VHPWR Type-4 on the other. Would this be enough for my PSU and 4090 choice? I'm at a loss and don't know what to do - some things I read say my 8 pin outputs from my PSU only provide 150 W per, and other things say that each 8 pin output provides 300 W per. Please help guys - I want to get this baby in and running but I'm afraid if I connect it incorrectly then I could damage something and have to shell out more bucks.. Can't do that. Thanks very much and I'm here to answer any questions to clear this up. Until then, I'll sit here on the floor staring at it until you enlighten me... Solution LeDoyen Posted February 20, 2023 Solution Share Posted February 20, 2023 the power limit in the specification is on the PCIE connector, the 6+2 GPU side of the cable, NOT the 8 pin on the PSU side. This is because of this spec that the adapters between PCIE and 12VHPWR have 4 cables, to get to 600W max. But if you get rid of the PCIE connectors you don't have that 150W limitation to follow. That's why the corsair cable only has two PSU connectors, and why 12VHPWR on most ATX3.0 is a single cable, 12VHPWR to 12VHPWR.

So, If you use four 8 pin cables into the power supply and then use all pins on the 6+2 end into the 4 into 1 adapter on the other end, are you giving the card a 150W input from that particular cable, or 300W? My guess is going to be 150W and thus would have to use 4 cables. If, however, you were going straight from two 8 pin cables from the PSU with no pigtail or 6+2 BUT a 12VHPWR straight to the card you are effectively providing the path for the PSU to provide up to 600W directly to the card without all the clutter of the adapter and cables like I have now. You are awesome for taking the time to help me man. I really appreciate it.
