iCUE H150 - Is it actual Pump Failure

Recommended Posts

Hi,

New build. Before I commit to returning it I wanted to make sure I've tried everything

Ryzen 7700 with an iCUE H150i Elite

When I first put the unit together, as I was installing the OS the pump block started flashing red. After powering down and doing some research I checked the cables and found the pump cable wasn't seated in the Core properly.  Seating it properly seemed to be the fix.
For the next 5 days it seemed to be working fine while I installed software.
This morning I switched the PC on, it started normally but the pump started flashing red again.
I shut everything down and checked cables again. Boot up into BIOS. CPU temp was at 65 and quickly climbed to 100 and everything shut down.

I've read fixes about forcing firmware updates etc, but they seem to be cases where it flashes red but the CPU temps don't rise.

Do I have a dodgy pump?

That definitely doesn't sound like normal behavior and sounds as though there is a fault in the cooler. If you are within the return period with the retailer you may want to proceed with an exchange directly with them or you can contact our support team directly by opening a ticket at https://help.corsair.com

That's a genuine pump fail or failure to start.  Follow through with support or exercise exchange options with the vendor.

Thanks. It sounded like pump failure, but I just wanted to make sure before I go to the effort of pulling it all apart.

My last PC I just tossed everything in, cables everywhere and I never had to touch it.
This time I took the time to set up the cables and make it look neat, and now I have to completely gut it to get the cooler out. It was the first thing in, and its not coming out unless I remove everything first 🙂

I just ran it up again, just into BIOS.

This time there was no red flashing warning on the pump, the RGB was operating as normal, but the temp still spiked to shutoff within 30 seconds.

I just poked around in the case, and theres fluid under the radiator. Not a huge amount, but if its been slowly leaking for 5 days that could be the problem.

If the pump is just sucking air I presume that would mean zero cooling.

Sorry for all the Qs, first time with an AIO

Should still be circulating even with a drip, but it doesn’t matter… get that thing out of there. Add the leak to ticket.  You’re stuck until you get an alternative cooling method in place.

Yeah. I pulled it out on the weekend. I managed to get it out without pulling anything else out. The fans were wet with what felt like coolant as well. When I had it out it felt like it had lost quite a bit of liquid.
I built it on top of a wooden bookshelf, because it was a perfect height.  It was in that spot for 3 days including some early power ups. There was a white residue on the bookshelf and some damp patches. Looks like the wood is damaged.

It was an Amazon purchase and they don't make replacement an option.  I've started a return and messaged the seller that I'd like a replacement. I noticed the seller has bumped the price up by $60. Now I wait.
