Chris2k121
I've already emailed Corsair about this around 3 or 4 days ago but I haven't received a response. I recently bought a 3090 and didn't realise it had 3 power connectors. The RM850e comes with a PCIe cable with a single connector and also one with a double connector. I've read a bunch of times that it's a bad idea to run the double cable on a high powered card, so not going to risk that. My question is - which PCIe cables can I use for this PSU? I have a spare PCIe cable from a different PSU, but looking at the connectors, they're pinned differently. I didn't even realize there were different types until I ran into this issue. Thanks for any help. Edited February 14 by Chris2k121
LeDoyen
normally you'd look in the cable compatibility chart, but nbody updates it.. so the RMe isn't there https://www.corsair.com/us/en/psu-cable-compatibility That said, type 3 hasn't been used in years. All current PSUs are type 4, and only the recently released RM shift introduced cable type 5. So, there's 99,9% of chances your PSU is type 4 Anyway.. for all cables except motherboard 24 pin, type 3 and type 4 are identical, so that's that. Any type 3 or 4 PCIE cable will do. Corsair Employees Corsair Notepad Posted February 14 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 14 The RMe PSU uses our Type 4 cables. In order to correctly power the adapter for your GPU, you will need to utilize a single PCIe cable from the PSU per 8-pin connection on the adapter. It is never a good idea to mix cables between PSUs if you are unsure of compatibility, and its never a good idea to mix cables between different PSU manufacturers. The spare I have is from a Corsair TX650M. This cable has "Type4" printed on the side and is a double connector. As I said previously, the reason I'm unsure is since it's pinned differently to the 2 cables that came with my 850 I currently have plugged into my 2700. On this spare cable pin 6 is missing. On the other 2 currently in use, pin 7 is missing. So it'd be okay to use this cable? Sorry if I'm asking n00b kinda questions, I just don't want to cause a fire or damage anything.
