pbdsllc
Hey all. as stated above building new 5000X RGB, Asus Z690-F Mobo, iCUE H1501: Question: how to deal with Commander Core and the 5000X build in fan/rgb controllers. A little confused as to which controllers to use or do they connect and work together? Obviously the Commander Core is needed for AIO H150i,.....| Thanks in advance
Solution c-attack Posted January 30 Solution Share Posted January 30 6 fans or less and you only need the Commander Core from the AIO kit. 7-12 fans means you’ll will combine that with the included Lighting Node Core (RGB) and PWM repeater hub (speed control). More than 12 and you need a different solution and additional gear. Commander Core - needs 1 SATA for power and 1 usb 2 connection to the motherboard for communication. Lighting Node Core - 1 SATA and 1 usb 2.0. PWM hub - 1 SATA for power and 1 PWM lead back to the Commander Core PWM side to make all those fans CUE programmable. pbdsllc
I think to start and get the build going I will run the 6 fans(3 front that came with the case) and the 3 with the H150i for now. I have the 3 additional fans I bought before I understood the "system". I may keep one of those to exhaust rear, but do that later after I get this running. So to summarize in my mind, unplug all of the 3 PWM and 3RBG front fan leads connected in the case and connect to the Command Core with the H150i. simple enough

Correct. Even though those are two different fans models (SP-Elite case and ML-Elite AIO), they were meant to go together. Each has identical 8 center hub LEDs and the software refers to them all as "8 LED fan". These can be used in any fan order with no special qualifications. Which 3 additional fans did you buy? You likely can use them without issue. You have two ways to address it if they are drastically different. 1) the lighting node core will be a separate controller. You can put 3 of anything on there and it does not affect the others. 2) the Commander Core and XT have independent RGB headers unlike all the other Corsair controllers. You can connect different fan types to it and the software will sort out the UI in the right way. That won't turn a center hub fan into a ring fan, but everything works. pbdsllc
@c-attack I bought 3 of the SP120 RGB Elite fans.
c-attack
That's no problem. Those are the same as the front fans and RGB identical to the radiator fans. They can be connected with either set on either controller. Did you want something different? I am not sure if I understand your meaning, but you are thinking of keeping a 7th fan for rear exhaust? Be aware the 7th fan is a bit of pain. It requires the full controller set-up like any other, even if just for one fan. There are some workarounds for that like 3rd party RGB splitters, but that will twin the fan to another and may not turn out as expected. An extra PWM splitter for the speed control should not be an issue. Edited January 31 by c-attack
