kampers
Hello. I got a water block. I pre-ordered. Shipping was very fast, about 1 week to Norway. Can someone from Corsair help me with thermopads. When I remove the original cooling and thermal pads, I did not notice that one of them was left on the graphics card. So I damaged 2 thermopads. Is it possible to get information about the thickness of this thermal pad? I would also like to ask about the backplate. Thermal Pads are mounted on the original, and from Corsair they are not, so they are not required? Thank you !!
Corsair Employees Corsair GregX Posted January 24 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 24 Hi, very nice to hear about fast delivery! Thermal pad thickness for memory IC. Original - 1mm XG7 4090 STRIX/TUF - 1mm For the backplate, thermal pads are not required. Runs like a champ!

kampers
Hello, after a 1-week test, I think it's not perfect 😕 The coils make a very loud noise. Does Corsair have this situation?

BlaiseP
I have an EK Quantum Velocity² block on a TUF 4090 and all thermal pads on the front are the same thickness (including the NVVDD stages you have circled) - 1mm.
kampers
Thank you for reply. But meybe it's different between corsair and EK ? Hope soon I get answers from corsair. And if they send me info I have to buy new thermal pads and 1 bottles xl5 coolant.😶 Edited February 6 by kampers
LeDoyen
yep, pad thickness varies from block to block, they are not all machined the same way. you could measure the height difference between the VRM and the chokes, and see how it translates on the block to know how tall the pads would need to be. That's an option too if you have a pair of calipers with depth gauge laying about.

kampers
I get answer from Corsair. So maybe another people get same problem or question. i don't have time to demount and check again 😞 " Thank you for contacting us, and providing a detailed description of your inquiry. Correct, the high-pitched sound you're hearing is the coil whine on your graphic card, and there is not much we can do about it. It is more intense when the graphic card's PCB is cooler (since it is water cooled) than when it is air cooled (the PCB is much warmer when the graphic card is air cooled). Also, the preinstalled stock air cooler is much louder and can drown out the coil whine as well. This is quite a common occurrence. I hope this answers your question. Should you require any additional information or support, please let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you further. "
