iCUE frequently crashes since H150i Elite LCD installed

Recommended Posts

Hello,

As the title says I'm suffering from an issue where iCUE crashes quite frequently, but only since I installed a new Corsair H150i ELITE LCD into the system. Prior to this I already had a Corsair keyboard, RAM and fans being controlled by iCUE without any crashing issues whatsoever.

I've already tried:

- Checking the relevant connections related to the AIO (Commander Core, USB)

- Cold starting the system

- Cleanly reinstalling iCUE based on this guide: Perform a clean reinstallation of the Corsair Utility Engine (iCUE) – Corsair

- Ensuring that there is no other RGB software conflicting with iCUE (there is very little running on my PC and iCUE is definitely the only RGB software running and the only app that should be able to communicate with the ELITE LCD)

All with no luck. Still getting frequent iCUE crashes. It crashes especially frequently when I have the screen set to "Clock" mode but will still crash with other modes running, albeit less frequently.

If this is any use, here is a copy of my most recent Windows crash log:

Additional Infos:

When I disconnect the water cooling from the USB, regular crashes no longer occur.

Corsair has already sent me a new Commander Core, but the same problem still exists with this one. So it can probably only be the H150i itself.

Yes, I am thinking the same thing. There are  quite possibly lots of faulty H150i units out there which cause iCUE to crash.

Not only that but the animation on the display is not 100% smooth either. This is very frustrating to me as I just received this unit as an RMA replacement for an old one which seemed to constantly run abnormally high coolant temperatures. That old unit never crashed iCUE even once.

I'd really hate to chase Corsair up again for this as they have been fantastic with RMAs - but if this is indeed a hardware and not software or firmware issue I may have to do what I've got to do.

This is an interesting theory. I'm getting the same crashes with my H150 and LCD screen. I haven't tested without screen yet.

Are any of the previous commenters using custom uploaded gifs?

2 weeks ago I installed the lcd upgrade onto my h150i elie capelix & after a few days icue started crashing ( devices would revert to the hardware scheme selected) the icue icon was still present in system tray until I moused over it then it would disappear. I've since made the screen just the standard temperature view ( previously a custom gif image) & since only using corsair presents, icue no longer crashes.

It's almost as if there is a software conflict with runtime of gifs playing ?

No I'm not using any custom GIFs, only the standard temperature view. I've tried different views but they all crash. I went ahead and replaced my Commander, and it's still crashing. I switched to different USB headers on the motherboard, added a power USB hub, and it's still crashing. I'm now going back through various previous iCUE versions seeing if I can find one that's stable.

Yeah, i am using a custom gif. I'll try it without a custom gif and report back here soon.

Hello, I have an h150i elite LCD and I have exactly the same problems as you... I don't know what to do anymore :

- the animation on the display is not 100% smooth (often just before icue crashing)

- when crash : the icue icon was still present in system tray until I moused over it then it would disappear

- Icue crash several times a day ... It happens at random times, it crashes completely and I have to restart it manually

The issue is due to the h150i elite LCD for sure... but how to fix the problem ? 😖

I read on Reddit that it was due to the recent firmware, and that the old h150i elite lcd do not have this problem (as long as you do not update the firmware)

I don't know if it's true... But many of us have this concern, I would like an official answer from CORSAIR 😞
