adamr_za
So the other day my PC just shut down with motherboard and memory module rgb lights lit up. Hitting the power button did nothing. Forced a shutdown by keeping the power button in , and when I chose to turn the pc on it would for like a split second come on (fans start to spin) and then off again with the motherboard rgb and memory rgb remaining lit up. took out the psu and did a self test and the led was green with the fan spinning. Replugged everything back and the next day it did it again (this time I looked at the psu and saw a red light on the self test panel) I have changed power cables (swapped out for the spares in the box). Even changed and reduced the number of power cables going into the PSU. Checked every cable on my components. Removed extension cables. Even changed the kettle cord into the PC. In iCue changed to single rail and also created a custom fan curve but to no avail. It randomly just either switches off and other times doesn’t boot. If I leave the pc disconnected for an hour or so and it will switch on again. Ran stress tests like 3d mark etc and it won’t switch off … and at other times just browsing and it’s off. Note this is not a new build logged a ticket. Anyone can help? Is it just a bad psu? It’s two years old and machine is not over locked or anything. c-attack
Interesting the board appears to keep power after the aborted start. I guess that clears the 24 pin cable (at least in part) but I would expect it to hard shut down, full off. Unfortunately this seems like a lot of the other AX860i and AX1200i posts. This is also how my AX1200i ended its service life. No explosive ending. It simply became unstable, particularly at light loads with seemingly random shutdowns. I think you e done the basic checks. Proceed with the RMA if you have warranty status. Be aware you are not likely to get an AXi unit as a replacement. They are discontinued.
adamr_za
I’m busy trying a different psu at the moment and so far no issues at all. Yup does seem like a common problem with these ax1200i. Am just waiting on Corsair now (RMA ticket lodged) - ticket number is (2005806903) Edited December 23, 2022 by adamr_za
