Tiat Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 Hi I need a hand here with a build I am considering an upgrade to a B560 or B560M motherboard along with an I5 11400f cpu. But my "old" Corsair RM650x (2018 model) PSU only comes with 1 8pin CPU connector for the motherboard. Can I add 8pin cable to my PSU, or perhaps it is enough with my 8pin? Or will I need a new PSU entirely? - which would be a shame this Corsair RM650x is hardly used and runs perfectly. Thanks everyone for help and tips!
LeDoyen Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 you only need one 8 pin. in fact, all current CPUs even the post power hungry only require one 8 pin, unless playing with liquid nitrogen overclocks and instane amounts of power requirements. the 8 pin provides in excess of 300W. the 11400F pulls 65W tops.

I take it that 65w is with power limit on motherboard. But that sounds kinda nice, I might opt for a B560 non M version then. Thanks alot 🙂
LeDoyen Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 yes with power limit. if you unlock you may double it probably? still a lot of margin 🙂
