DahRoyan
I created a request for support on 12/5. I have not received any response. I have an unused PSU I purchased in 2021. I couldn't get parts to finish my build last year so I got frustrated and quit trying. I decided to give it another shot this fall due to better availability. I decided to test the HX1200 by connecting to an older machine and running Memtest86 for a few days. It puts off a terrible odor that doesn't seem to be dissipating. It is so bad that it gives us a headache rooms away. I believe this to be excess flux from manufacturing. It seems to function well but the smell is unbearable. Please help me get this straightened out. I have new parts I can't test without this PSU.

I received an email stating the ticket was routed to the customer care instead of support.
LeDoyen
New PSU always give that solvent smell for a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the usage. It's annoying that you have to do the build in winter,.. when opening the window can cause awesome PC cooling and runny noses.. There's "hot snot" on lots of components there, silicon goo to prevent caps from moving around and coil whine on some parts for example.. and that thing degasses a bit as components warm up when it's new, giving off that smell.

No doubt. I've worked as an OEM for 20 years and have built many on these machines. A bit of smell is normal but after it has been in burn-in for a month it should have dissipated. There is a certain level where it should begin to taper off. However, with other brands it is a lot less common. It never happens when we use seasonic.
