H100i Platinum in Safely Remove - Please help

That's the OS getting confused about what kind of device it is.  This is on the USB path, so if you accidentally "ejected it", the cooler would simply disconnect from the software like when you boot or shutdown.  I would start by reinstalling your chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer page.  I doubt they are out of date, but something has gone a little off track and the chipset handles USB traffic.  Quit CUE from the task bar before reinstalling the chipset driver.

Wouldn't hurt to also make sure that your BIOS is fully updated as well as making sure your chipset drivers are fully updated. If you have an AMD Ryzen based system it would be advised to get the driver directly from AMDs website as the AMD chipset drivers listed on motherboard's download pages don't tend to be the most up to date.

I was able to contact the guy at the shop that built the PC and he said it is perfectly normal for him since it is plugged in the motherboard USB slot, go figure...

Also, I just noticed that in the Safely Remove list the cooler appears as the H100i Platinum but it actually is the H100i Pro...

Maybe this is the issue and should I try to install the drivers for the correct model I guess?

What is the part number on the end-cap of the radiator? The H100i Pro and H100i Platinum coolers are from two completely different OEMs, so they should not be showing as the other.

Example: CW-9060033-WW

The only thing that I can see is a Barcode Label: 621419304027. If it is not of any help I'll try to look better later. I said it is a H100i Pro since I still have the cooler's box, also the fans are without RGB lights and the H100i Platinum has got the RGB, right?

Many thanks again

The software should automatically detect the product.  No manual driver installation needed on the Corsair side.  Builders sometimes mix different kits together or assemble them in a certain way for their own reasons.  A lot don't connect the USB at all and hardwire everything to the motherboard.  If the RGB wires from the fan are not connected, they won't light.  There a completely separate wire for motor power.  The Pro model has grey fan blades.  The Platinum blades are white, but again it could be mix and match.

It's not normal for you to see a list of internal USB devices as electable.  Can you see if it is plugged into one of the 9 pin internal USB 2 slots (typically bottom of the motherboard)?  I have seen a few where they use a 9 pin internal to USB A converter and plug it right into the rear IO like a keyboard.

The fan blades are grey as for the Pro model, I don't think they mixed different kits.

The pump USB cable runs behind the motherboard from above, so I guess it goes down and is plugged into one of the USB slot as you said, but I can't say for sure.

As you probably guessed by now I am pretty unskilled... In fact I haven't tried to update the BIOS and/or the chipset drivers (AMD), yet.

I would like to avoid to make some damage to the PC that is covered by a two years warrant.

Also, I hope my english is understandable.

Thank you for trying to help me out.

This used to pop up from time to time but I can't remember the last time someone mentioned it.  Try a basic reinstall of the CUE program to see if Windows will treat it differently.  Go to the Windows Apps List in Windows Settings.  Find Corsair iCUE and use the drop down menu to select "modify".  Then follow the prompts for a repair install.  This will not erase profiles or settings but is useful for cleaning up weird issues.

If you can see a wide connector coming out from underneath the MB and then looping around to connect to the bottom, that surely is the internal USB 2.  Not a lot of other things use those anymore.  You can leave it alone.  I don't think it's physical.  Somewhere between BIOS -> OS -> CUE the software is confused.

Some BIOS settings have selectable hot swap options for SATA drives.  It is possible this includes USB internal ports on some models, but I am speculating.  Also, this is not a serious issue and the worst thing that can happen is you accidentally "eject" the cooler, which will drop it into hardware mode.  Since your fan/pump speed settings are saved to the device automatically, the only consequence would a lighting change on the pump pace until the next time you restart the PC.

Very glad to know that if I accidentally eject the cooler there will be no consequences, that was my major concern.

Can't find the Corsair iCUE program in the apps list, looks like they didn't even install it.

If I install it now could it be useful to try to solve the issue?

Yes!  And you may have been right from the start about  needing the driver.  The OS doesn't know what it is.  My fault for not expressly asking about it.   One you install CUE the cooler should be detected in app and show a picture.  No more issues about what cooler it is then.  It also will tell us if the builder hooked the fans to the motherboard or the AIO's fan controller.  Most of the time it's to the MB and that puts the BIOS in control rather than the software.  We can change that if you like.

My fault for not knowing what's in 'MY' PC actually lol

I have dowloaded the program already but I have not installed it yet, I was waiting for your advice.

It is 2am here so I will install it later and try to see what will happen, then I will post the outcome here.

Many thanks!

I think everything is fine now!

iCUE wasn't even fully installed and the Safely Remove icon disappeared along with the (wrong) H100i Platinum entry.

In the iCUE Home I now have the correct H100i Pro, finally.

COOLING shows Fan 1, Fan 2 and the Pump currently working on Quiet mode, the Coolant Temp is at around 30 °C.

In Windows 11 Settings > Bluetooth and Devices > Other Devices I can see: Corsair USBXp Driver.

Thank you very much again

That's great.  Fans are connected to the pump controller as intended.  You are good to go.
