Madsci1975
Hi, As you surely know, AMD 7000-series CPU are coming in odd shapes with sideways cut out around the CPU lid with exposed capacitor within some of those cut-out spaces. Do you think there is any chance the pre-applied thermal paste might spill over those capacitor when I'll install my AIO pump head over my 7000-series CPU? gambler
AFAIK even if thermal paste spill to capacitors, it won't cause anything to them as thermal paste doesn't conduct electricity. BUt I doubt the paste will actually touch the capacitors as they aren't in the same level as the lid, unless if you apply too much thermal paste (which isn't the case of the pre-applied paste) Edited December 11, 2022 by gambler
LeDoyen
yep. it won't get anywhere close to the CPU PCB. the preapplied paste is also thicker than most aftermarket ones and won't run down on it.. and it's non conductive too.
Madsci1975
Anyway, this is surely not liquid metal compound, hehehe. Thanks for your inputs. Might not be conductive, however, trying to minimize risks
LeDoyen
Aquacomputer just launched a sealing frame for AM5, but i can't find it in the shop yet. maybe worth checking if you really really want it. https://forum.aquacomputer.de/weitere-foren/english-forum/113066-new-sealing-frame-for-socket-am5-cpus/
