CPU overheating

Hey community, I just bought components to build myself a computer. The problem is that at the moment, the moment I start ICue latest version, I make my CPU go like crazy and shutdown itself because of overheat

I have

Ryzen 9 7950x 4.5Ghz

ICue H150i elite 360mm

xfx 6950xt GDDR6 16GB

Asus Rog B650e-F

corsaire vengeance 5200Mhz DDR5 32GB

(2*16)

I just installed windows 10 home edition, the azure, the basic software that we are asked to install right away. I then proceed to install ICue but my computer start making my CPU overheating for no reason since he was perfectly fine before. I have searched the web but can't find a solution can someone help me ?

Check what fan curve you are using (look at the "cooling" section for the Commander Core; it may be set too low (aggressiveness of the fans: Quiet >Balanced > Extreme). Otherwise, check your mount of the H150i Elite's cold plate to the CPU (are the screws tight?).

That does not apply here and your Elite Capellix gets its power from the PSU directly via SATA -> Commander Core -> Pump/block.

It appears your pump is not running. Flip the PSU off. Then check the SATA connector for the Commander Core. If the fans have been spinning, then the Commander Core has power. Next check the power connector from Com Core to pump block. Disconnect and reconnect making sure the white stripe is aligned. Flip the PSU back in and start up. You can stop in the bios if preferred. If the pump is not running, you will see the cpu temp rapidly escalate from 40 to 100 in 30 seconds.

If the pump is still not running, contact Corsair Support or look at exchange options with the vendor.

It’s not possible for CUE to cause an overwhelming load on your cpu in a matter of seconds.  A stress test program should not be capable of that either unless… 1) the pump is not running; 2) the cooling plate is not in contact with the cpu lid; 3) You have set an impossible cpu voltage in your BIOS.  Your cpu should not be capable of reaching the thermal shutdown point from any type of software event.

If your assertion is correct, then you should be able to run a stress test with CUE closed. Either way, you might as well do the first part of the clean install before testing.

@SgBlood - all of your posts say all my fans work but are you sure your pump is spinning/working (as @c-attack has alluded to)? I'd expect the pump to be running at 2,200rpm+ or at the very least, quite different to the speed of your fans. You may have inadvertently set your pump to 0rpm within ICUE. This would be a plausible explanation if as you say, the overheating occurs only when ICUE is running within a minute or so.

The fact is that I can run my pc for max 1min before it shut down itself of I shut down myself because the CPU temp I near 100°C. Also yes the screws are tight.

The fans work, everything work, that fact is that the CPU temp only goes up when I open ICUE, when he is not running the pump rum well

If the pump is not running, it may take 60 seconds in a system running at default cpu wattage or with a smaller cpu to heat the trapped water up to the critical point. That’s just long enough to boot and load/open CUE. The fans should be ramping up the entire time. You also might only get one shot at it and then subsequent attempts fail because the water is already too hot the moment you press power.

One way to separate issues is to stop in the bios on boot. No pump action and you will overheat there too. No software or OS interaction there and cpu temp should be 40C or less. If you can watch it tick upwards, there is a flow problem.

I don't even see my pump on ICue, only my motherboard, my RAM and my commander core. I also played games and run some GPU stress test but the temp stayed around 40°C so I'm thinking what if the commander is dead

With the Elite Capellix AIO units, you should see a "pump face" in CUE that replaces the Commander Core picture.  In that menu is both the controls for the Commander Core and pump speed/lighting.

If you only see a picture of the Commander Core on your home screen, that means the Com Core does not detect the pump head unit and that's where the problem lies.  In that case, power down the system, flip the PSU off, then deliberately disconnect then reconnect the wide power cable on the side of the Commander Core.  That is the power/communication path to the pump.  Once reconnected, flip the PSU back on and start up normally.  This should force the system to redetect the pump head.

It sounds like you may have an intermittent power issue on the pump.  Sometimes it's running, sometimes it's not.  Obviously that is not the way its supposed to work.  Hopefully this is just a connection issue, but a flaw in the power line or pump could result in this behavior as well.  You should start a support ticket with Corsair now in case you need replacement parts or a new unit.  The Corsair Support link is at the bottom of the page.

What exactly are the temps you are experiencing? Please remember that AMD has stated, and all reviews show, that the design of the new CPUs are intended for the CPU to target, hit, and stay at 95C when under load.

Hi there, I am having this exact same issue. I am running an the build below. This problem started back in September when Icue did not detect the LCD Cap and continuously showed the red triangle. I tried replacing the cap with the a new one along with a new commanders core. Still the same problem plus now when I install icue the CPU temp continues to slowly increase to temps above 100C. When icue is not installed, amoury crate monitors temps and everything normal. Playing games et

ASUS ROG Strix Z690-e

Playing games does not affect the system either. After 2 months of of not doing anything, I tried updating everything again through icue but this still did not resolve the problem and I was forced to uninstall icue. I have checked all the connections etc and run through the troubleshooting process of a clean install. Do I need a new AIO pump, new LCD head, and new commanders core?

So what I’ve done for this matter, I have a brother with the same cooler as mine, h150i elite lcd. I’ve swapped out our commander cores, mine will still rocket up in temps up to 100 C. I then swapped our coolers, mine will still rocket up to 100 C while his will run as it should. I’ve reinstalled 3 different types of thermal paste through out the process of all this, still nothing. I’ve yet to realize the same issue, since the recent icue update, my pc has had the significant problems as yours and I’m sure many others. I’ve managed to launch the pc in safe mode, uninstalled icue and my temps haven’t shot up since. I began another test by reverting to a previous version of icue and it works as it did the last 2 months since I’ve built the pc. IMO, corsair should consider a patch for some of their software updates as they can be a little buggy sometimes and cause issues as such. My only problem now is my coolant temps were between 30-40 C and now my cooler wont push out any coolant temps below 50 C. Meanwhile my cpu is now running back at 30-40 C where it was previously. Just food for thought, hope this helps.
