scimitar rgb elite mouse click + side button issue

 i just got a scimitar rgb elite and after i finished my hardware key assignments and my hardware lighting i decided to try and play without iCUE open. i discovered that if i press a side button whilst holding down left and/or right mouse click it would remove the input from the mouse clicks. i then tested it with iCUE open and it seems that this combination works just fine as long as it is open. am i missing some sort of setting or is this intended?
