geogecko
I probably should have asked this question sooner, but I was wondering if any testing has been done with this new ASUS board, A8N-SLI PREMIUM? I ordered some TWINX1024-3200C2PT modules to use with it, as I saw these were listed for the Deluxe model. Is there any reason these modules wouldn't work? Also, as far as upgrading in the future, if I'm able to still buy the same exact model of memory modules, would I have any problems getting 4 of these modules to work in the motherboard? Thank you. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 13, 2005 With this platform if you use more than 2 modules it will by default revert to DDR333 this is limitation of the memory controller in the CPU. You are welcome to try more that 2 modules but there is no way we can promise it will work. And we only officially guarantee the tested settings with one set of modules. But yes these modules should run with out problems in this MB.
gubbas
Well, I just tried the TWINX1024-3200C2PT memory with my A8N-SLI Premium and it will not post. Tried everything - one at a time and moving them around and nothing. With out the memory, the board will POST a memory error, but with the memory it goes out to lunch. Any ideas here? Exchange the MB? Memory? Try different memory? Is there an absolutely tested rock solid memory type for this board? I dont plan to do extreme overclocking, but maybe a little. geogecko
I had no problems getting that memory to work, so it appears that there is a problem with one of two things, the MB or the memory. I'd suggest borrowing some memory if you can, and try that out. I think this board had the audio error messages feature, doesn't it? Try hooking up some speakers to the audio port (green plug), and then booting the system. If it doesn't POST, you should be told why.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 3, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 3, 2006 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. .
