Lob-Star
I have a Sitck of CMX512-2700C2 (XMS 2700 333mhz CL2) XMS 2702v4.1. I have been noticing some system instability lately so I started to trouble shoot my system. I formatted the drive, swapped out my hdd, and video card. I started to wonder if my ram might be to blame so I took one stick out, it did nothing, then swapped out my other stick (I use 2 sticks of the above ram). I noticed a remarkable reduction in boot time. I then downloaded the memtest from the stickies here and tested each stick. I do get errors on one of the sticks. Is there anything else that I can do to try and trouble shoot this? I have several other boxes I can test it in, but feel I have pretty well narrowed down the problem. Lob-Star
I should probably also note I have an Abit NF7-S v2. My ram voltage is 2.7 with 2-3-3-6 timings. I run my sticks in 0-1 and 4-5 for dual channel goodness. I run my proc with 200 fsb with a setting of 6:5 or 5:6 ... I don't remember exactly. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 13, 2005 An AMD 2600M would run at 133 MHz by default. Can you tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Can you tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? My CPU is at 10.5x200 (2100mhz), my ram is running 166mhz with a ratio of 6:5 or 5:6 .... can't remember which. So even though I run my CPU with FSB 200, my ram is only 166. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 13, 2005 Please try these settings and test the modules one at a time with the Dim Voltage set to 2.7 Volts. CPU Freq: 133 MHz Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 133 MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

Any specific reason to run the RAM out of spec at 2.5-3-3-6? Also, I'm not sure my board will go down to that low of FSB. Thanks again for all the help! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 13, 2005 Actually XMS2700C2 would be Cass 2-3-3-6 with one module only and with more than one Cass 2.5-3-3-7 would be suggested. But if your MB will not run at 133 MHz then it is not compatible with the CPU you have and will likely never be stable no matter what you have it set to. Lob-Star
Thanks again for all the help to this point, and sorry for the late reply. I ran the tests with the suggested settings with one stick at a time and both sticks at the same time. With both sticks I get errors, with one stick at a time I get errors on the suspected stick but not with the other one. I am using memtest86+ 1.51 (CD Image version). If there is anything else that I can try, or that may help determine the problem, please let me know.

Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! Just to clarify, do you want me to send in both sticks or just the one that is showing errors? Sorry for the noobish question :P Thanks for your quick support!
