FS2005
I recently bought a laptop based upon the Intel 915PM (Sonoma) chipset. This machine requires DDR2 SODIMMS and supports dual channel memory configurations if you fill both slots. Which of the two options would be better? 1) 2 X PC2-4200 533Mhz 1GB SODIMM chips (CL 4) 2) 2 X PC-3200 400Mhz 1GB SODIMM chips (CL 3) It looks like for the increased speed, one would have to give up a more favorable CL 3 for CL4. But, I remember discussions that with DDR2, speed is more important, if memory serves. Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 13, 2005 You need a DDR2 module for this NB. It will not support PC-3200 DDR1 memory. Please look on our Memory Configurator and find the suggested modules for your system.

I realize that I need DDR2 modules and that is what I am referring to in my post. Both options 1 and 2 are available DDR2 SODIMMS. With this in mind, which of options 1 or 2 would be best, given the speed vs. latency tradeoff? Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 14, 2005 There is only one of these options that are DDR2 (1) 2 X PC2-4200 533Mhz 1GB SODIMM chips (CL 4). The other choice was and is DDR1 and will not run in your system. Sorry!
