RAM Revision Numbers....??

Hi guys,

Just a breif question if anyone would be so kind to give me a some peace of mind :sigh!:

I have just purchased an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum 939 & an A64 4000+

I have a pair of Corsair Twinx 3200C2PT modules that I bought last year for my Athlon XP based system and I will be using these with the new system. I have purchased another pair of RAM modules of exactly the same type 'C2PT' to go into the new machine. This will take me up to 2GB of memory.

However, I've just looked at the revision numbers and the older modules are at 1.3 and the new set are at 1.5.....

Will these RAM modules be ok running alongside each other?

I'm kinda worried now :[pouts:

Cheers for any replies

Peace

I would not suggets more than one set of Twinx in any system, but you are welcome to try it. But you do realize you may be limted to DDR333 with more than 2 modules right?

The board is an MSI K8N Neo Platinum 2 (NForce3) It states clearly that Dual channel is supported using all 4 slots (Up to 4GB of memory) as long as the matched pairs are configured in the correct slots.

The diagram in the manual has 3 possible configurations for memory. One of them is filling all 4 slots with modules ranging in size from 128MB to 1GB (Single sided)

These modules are Double sided, which is going to throttle the speed, right?

I think if you notice they only show 4 single sided modules running in DC at DDR400 all other configurations using 4 modules would be at DDR333. And this is a limitation of the memory controller in the CPU not the MB. But hey if they say it will work then more power to them. But from what I have seen this is hit and miss with the CPU's. But the new Core CPU's from AMD will address this. And all of our modules that are 512 Meg and higher in density would be double sided.

Yep, You're right.

I've sent back the Twinx 1GB kit, and ordered a 2GB kit.... :sigh!:

1GB or RAM isn't really enough for the apps I run! Just the way it goes I suppose.

Thanks for the responses anyway, RAM GUY!

Peace :):
