ganz196
Hello, I am trying to install 2 memory modules DDR 1024MB PC400 ECC REG in my Asus k8v se deluxe MB with Athlon XP 3000+ CPU. The modules were bought together and have the following tags (do not know exactly the model name) : CORSAIR PC-3200, CM72SD1024RLP-3200/M 0521122-0 PC3200R-3330-Z1 . If I install each of them alone they appear to work, although every now and then I get an "overclocking failed" error during boot followed by a suggestion to enter SETUP. When they are installed together, the system gives no sign of life. Blank screen. Setting a lower speed than 400Mhz (e.g. 200) does not help. The system has previously worked fine with 2 modules SALTEK DDR400 512MB at full speed. Any ideas what may be wrong? Thank You
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 9, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 9, 2005 First thing, this MB will not support registered ECC memory. Please see if the reseller will let you exchange these for CMX1024-3200 instead.
ganz196
I had no idea of that... on the MB user guide I read "You may install 64MB,... and 1GB unbuffered ECC and non-ECC DIMMs into the DIMM sockets using the memory configurations in this section." Actually, the system seems to work fine with only 1 module installed... ??? Thank You p.s. can you please tell me what is exactly the name of the modules I have purchased? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 9, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 9, 2005 CM72SD1024RLP-3200 would be a Registered ECC module uisng By memory IC's and would be double ranked. And Un-Buffered = Non Registered.
