Bad RAM

Recommended Posts

Dear RAM GUY,

My system started having random crashes and reboots.

After trying several different approaches (primarily chipset drivers, video drivers and hard drive diagnostics) I finally used Memtest.

Memtest reported MANY errors immediately.

I removed one of the memory modules (they came in a two pack)

and I got the same result. I then swapped the two modules. The second module completed several successful passes before I terminated the test.

Should I fill out an RMA on the failed module?

Thanks,

draco

Please test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts as well. If you do find one failing then lets get it or them replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

However; if you get errors with both modules, that would suggest some other problem. And I would try testing the memory in another system to be sure.

I tested them individually with the 2.7 Volts setting.

The one module still fails memtest. The other module is still good.

I requested an RMA using the Web form, 30+ hours later I sent an email to warranty@corsairmemory.com as I had not received a response.

Now it's 60+ hours and I'm posting this....

Can you help me, I seem to have taken a detour on the RMA highway

Thanks,

draco
