LazyT
So I purchased a Scimitar RGB Pro back in late 2019 and it was fantastic for almost 2 years, but after a while it started developing a weird problem with the scroll wheel, sometimes an upscroll would register as a downscroll and vice versa. It made scrolling through anything, and especially long pages an absolute nightmare. I put in an RMA and I'm extremely thankful that they actually decided to send me a replacement (they sent me an Elite though saying they no longer had the Pro in stock) given that it was a few weeks past it's 2 year standard warranty, I didn't really expect anything but they actually came through with a replacement which was awesome of them. The mouse I received was a refurbished unit, you could tell since it didn't come in it's original packaging, just some bubble wrap and a plain cardboard box, and there was a couple of very minor but noticeable scuffs on it. Again - I wasn't bothered by that since I wasn't really expecting anything at all and was just happy to have functioning mouse again. The replacement worked great for another 4 months after that, at this point the replacement also starts exhibiting the same mouse wheel problems as the original - the exact same problem. I'm at the point now where I am having to use the sidebar to scroll through pages since using the wheel is infuriatingly random. I am looking to purchase a new mouse now (I'm pretty sure I can't get a replacement for the replacement, right?) and I really really love the design of the Scimitar and how it feels in my hand, but I'm concerned about just running into the same problem again down the line. So does this mouse legit have a manufacturing defect with the wheel that anyone else knows about or am I just straight up unlucky enough to get 2 of them with the same problem? cwright
Hi LazyT, I returned my Scimitar RGB Pro because of the same reason multiple times and now have the same issue with the Scimitar RGB Elite which is the successor model. I will be returning it to the vendor I purchased it from for a replacement. What I did notice was that the mouse wheel was a bit stiff / had friction at the beginning. My Elite is 4 months old and has started showing the issues you mentioned. I don't know what the cause is as the mice always failed within the warranty period. LeDoyen
Just an idea.. when i took apart my G502 last year, i may have spotted a possible cause 😛 those mouse wheel openings accumulate a ton of crap and dust, and that does not play well with optical sensors. Maybe have a go at blasting it carefully with some compressed air and see if it solves it?
cwright
Well I personally would put that down to bad design as the mouse is 4 months old and already showing this issue. I can't take it apart as that would void warranty, blasting air in did nothing for me. Thanks.
DMac55
Hi LazyT. I had to RMA my Corsair Scimitar at the beginning of this year as the scroll wheel was "free spinning" inhibiting the functionality of scrolling. As of this week, 9 months later, I am receiving the problem you are now On 6/2/2022 at 4:43 PM, Corsair Crimson said: Hey there! I hope This helps someone else
Ektelion
I have exactly the same problem with the scroll wheel on My Scimitar Elite.... Even though it started happening 1 year into purchase and i had 1 extra year of warranty i decided not to bother and replace it and live with it. I just can't stress enough to bother with the resellers and stores, this is my 5th corsair mouse, the build quality is so questionable if you ask me these days that i might be skipping their product line of mouses in the future. I thought i was just unlucky but i hear about these problems a lot and having owned 5 of their mice, 4 of them developing strange problems between 1 year of normal usage is kinda unnaceptable for the price range they're asking. Kind of shame since i love this company and i wanted to have a full Corsair 1 brand PC, but it feels like the build quality is going down for the sake of profits i am afraid :/. One thing i must admit is that they have a very good support and they will replace anything that doesn't operate as it should within warranty,

I am experiencing this issue as well. A quick search of your community shows, at least, several threads on the matter and the following reddit post is just one of many where other users experience the same issue. A workaround is even suggested in this post but it requires opening the mouse. You may want to forward this on to engineering so this can be resolved. EDIT: I should add that this will very likely void your warranty, for any users out there that want to try this.
