Rick26
I have a 1 GB Value Select kit that has failed the Mem86 test. I got over 96,000 errors (Methinks this is not a good thing). Any help is welcomed.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 3, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 3, 2005 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

ASUS A7N8X 2.0 AMD 3200 FSB 200 Mem Timing 2.5-3-3-8 Bios is set on optimal for both CPU and memory. Also changed settings to FSB 166 and still got the same errors. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 3, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 3, 2005 ASUS A7N8X 2.0 AMD 3200 FSB 200 Mem Timing 2.5-3-3-8 Bios is set on optimal for both CPU and memory. Also changed settings to FSB 166 and still got the same errors. Please make sure that you have the jumpers set at 2-3 and not the default 1-2 for the CPU FSB and the modules installed on DIMM slots 2&3 (if one module then DIMM 1); make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB, load Setup/Optimized default settings and try the following BIOS settings; System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Resulting Frequency: 200 MHz (400 FSB) Memory Timing: Optimal if Manual SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T DDR Reference Voltage: 2.7 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200/9600/9800) or NVIDIA (5200/5700/6600/6800) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!

So much for, ( our matched sets are pre tested) ;):
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 6, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 6, 2005 With Value Select you would only need to send the failing module. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
Rick26
With Value Select you would only need to send the failing module. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! The main reason for me buying this memory was because it was listed as a matched set. (Pre tested) Now you are telling me to send in the bad module. How is this now a matched set? I took the modules out of the system and replaced them with my original generic memory mods. Guess what? No errors using the same exact settings. Too bad I now have only 512 instead of 1024 which was the reason for the upgrade in the first place. I'd be happy to TEST two 1 gig sticks with no cost to you. :D:
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 10, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 10, 2005 Value Select sets are not a matched sets like our Twinx sets, but normally they would be 2 modules that are from the same lot. But they are not guaranteed like our Twinx sets. If you want to send the pair you are welcome too, but its not required like it would be with our Twinx sets.
