Mixing different fans (all Corsair)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums - forgive me if this question has been asked before.

I ordered 3x Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB ELITE Performance 120mm fans and an iCue H170i Elite Capellix RGB which comes with 3x 140mm fans (the loose fans and cooler fans seem to match well in tone) but stupidly I didn't realise this, I initially thought they were all 120mm and would fit into the front of my Carbide Air 540 case (which btw is an absolute beast of a case and I've had 3 different builds in it!) but alas it's a bit too chunky. Anyway, I've asked the company I ordered it from to cancel and see if I can get another corsair cpu cooler with the same colour tones - unfortunately this company doesn't have a similar one in stock with 120mm fans and the only other Corsair product is a H150i Elite Capellix that will fit in the case.

My question is, will I be able to get the same colour tones as the 3 fans I purchased with the H150i using the iCUE software, or will I have to cancel those as well if I want to get everything running in uniform? I've attached some rather large images of the fans and cooler which seem to have a mis match in colour tone.

Appreciate any help and thanks in advance.

that's just photoshop style rendering on these photos 🙂

There will always be slight tone variations but you can correct these in iCUE by adding a transparency layer with a slight correction. It's mostly noticeable when using white (some fans have a slight blue tint on white). otherwise it's typically unnoticeable.

Thank you for the reply... Actually a staff member at the company I ordered it from said that both images were using different profiles that can be chosen across all the fans in iCUE anyway. I have ordered the H150i along with the Elite performance fans which come with 4 pin rather than 3 pin on the Pros (AND are cheaper!... glad I dodged a bullet there.

Thank you for the reply and basically confirming what I wanted to hear 😄

The SP-Elite and ML-Elite OEM fans from the Elite AIO kits should be a color tone match.  They were designed to work together and are interchangeable on the RGB controller.  They all share the same "8 LED fan designation" and do not have separate settings, unlike all the other fans.

The images above show the fans on different profiles.  The SP-Elite are on Watercolor Spectrum (hence the lighter tones) and the ML-Elite OEM below are on Spiral Rainbow.
