Asus motherboard and vga not always working in ICUE

Recommended Posts

hi,

I have an asus maximux X hero and asus gty 1660ti strix.

I'm on windows 11 and latest icue 4 version (upgraded yesterday).  I have armoury crate installed.

Usually everything works fine, they get both detected and showing the right colors.

Sometimes I boot or restart my pc and the motherboard is working on rainbow even if it's listed in icue control panel.

So I restart again and the motherboard is working.  sometimes I need to restart several times to have it working.

it's very annoying.  am I doing anything wrong?    what can I do?

maybe @DevBiker @LeDoyen or @c-attack can help me?

I'm sorry for bothering always you guys but it seems you are the only ones here that know what they are talking about.

corsair should hire you up

thank you

Sorry, can't help, i ditched all my corsair hardware and don't use iCUE anymore 😛

I only help on the hardware i know or for custom loop cooling.

The iCUE integration has always been hit and miss for me in the iCUE3 days, and the CPU hit was too much so i ended up never using it.

I'm afraid I don't know either.  I uninstalled Armory Crate quite a while back and am content to let my XII series stay dark.  Plenty of lights in the case already.  I have noticed an uptick in Asus GPU RGB control complaints and I don't think newer Asus Z690 boards work at all.  Possible the Asus plugin development is not current.

One thing that has come up in the past is load order on boot.  Try setting CUE not to start on boot, then manually start it.  Things may go smother if AC is allowed to load before CUE takes over.  Having to manually launch it with one click may be less hassle then having to dive into the app settings on a regular basis.

thank you guys for trying to help me.

several restarts didn't work. I uninstalled the latest and re installed the 4.20.169 version.

now the motherboard is working again.

either the old version or the re installation worked. or at least it seems so.

I'am an rgb fan but I must admit that it's more hassle than joys having them in your case...

they look good but softwares are a mess... especially they are all fighting each other 👎

sync, and having several software suites is a nightmare..

I tend to do like C-attack and leave the mobo and RAM off. If i want some light i just set an effect with OpenRGB, and close it. It doesn't need to run in the background.

I see....  by the way, this damn motherboard is on rainbow again... 😠👎

just happened to me too. I guess it's not an iCUE or AC issue since i have neither of those.

the problem is that I can't really turn off my motherboard. I tried hundred times to turn them of in bios but it doesn't work.

after a couple of restarts the leds turn on.   and that's even fine, I can live with my leds set on rainbow.

it's just strange that they worked for a while, I mean for some months, then they stopped working without changing any setting of course.

and that's a shame, this stuff is expensive, more expensive than ledsless one, they all advertise it so much...  you buy it and it doesn't work well.

that's really disappointing.  I think companies should agree on a kind of standard otherwise people will get sick and stop buying rgb hardware.

No brand has every kind of device.  I can't go and buy a corsair motherboard or vga, right?  Just like I can't buy a razer or steelseries mobo etc etc.

I know that they hope you just buy their own products so they try to bind you to their specific software but that's no sense.

it simply doesn't work.   the only result you get is that pepole get pissed off....

well, I don't know... I'm quite sick of wasting my time removing and installing icue.

I think I'll keep my mobo on rainbow but that's really disappointing.

I often build pcs for friends or colleagues or they ask me for advices...  I will surely tell them NOT to buy RGB stuff....

I'm sorry for this rant....

Setting Armory Crate MB to black/off should do it and that would allow you to keep GPU lighting control.  CUE might override that, but hopefully you will be able to control that at the profile level.

For Asus gear, you likely need to uninstall Armory Crate/Aura/AI Suite etc to permanently shut things down.  Make sure you run their cleaner tool. Those programs go deep down and override BIOS settings, so as long as they are installed the BIOS level settings may not work.

Make sure Armoury Crate including all of it's individual modules are fully updated. You will need to open Armoury Crate, go to the Update Center, check for updates. I have seen this happen on my personal machine and it normally occurs when Asus has pushed out updates for AC or the modules used to control the individual hardware.

oh. thank you for your reply.  I have seen some updates in armoury crate.

I still have to update it because when I update AC they remove a menu I need to turn off the motherboard when I suspend windows.

I can try to update ac and see if the issue is resolved.    👍

hello @Corsair Notepad

I tried your suggestion. I updated every AC module but unfortunately I had no luck.

I restarted a couple of times and mobo and vga where on rainbow. The third time I restarted they were like I set in icue.

but I think it was just the usual random luck wheel.  I think I will give up on rgb.

My rig is mostly new now but when I'll build my next pc I'll go for ledless parts, if there will be any.

thank you  anyway for helping me.
