Connecting commander pro xt without a usb 2.0 header on mobo?

Recommended Posts

Cable I bought

I seemed to buy this to try and fix my issue since someone else on the forum bought it and it fixed their issue, but it seemed to not work. I dont know if im doing it right cuz theres two 5 pins and the xt uses a 9 pin connector. However, someone told me 5 pins is enough for it to work....

make sure you orient it the right way : ground to ground.

I don't have a Core XT to check but usually the 9 pin connector has a hole blanked. that's the ground side. put the black wire side of the adapter towards that hole, on the row that has the 5 holes open.

if it doesn't work, then :

ye didnt work. I will get that but I may just be wasting time again. There has to be something else wrong with these shitty commander pros. Every one i get keeps breaking in some way.

commander pro or commander core XT?

Now i have never seen a motherboard not come with internal USB headers, so i also wonder why you need the adapter cable, unless you use them externally for some custom project. If it's a problem of not having a free header, there are internal powered USB hubs you can use to connect multiple devices to one single header.

Maybe if you detail the build we'd be able to help

Well I just think the usbs on the mobo is the issue. Cause of the repetitive issues with rgb.

the build is r9 5900x and rtx 3080. B550f wifi motherboard

XT commander pro
