DDR3 density

Hi,

I have an old motherboard that I'm trying to find some more DDR3 RAM for. I found out that the max supported by my chipset (H55) is 4GB per slot. However I've also found that the density of the RAM is important, this chipset needing low density RAM. The present RAM is XMS3. I've found:

which is very useful, but doesn't include the version number of the RAM in my motherboard (v2.3A). Presumably the chips are Elpida, but does anyone know what the density (size and number of banks) are for this version?

It's annoying that manufacturers don't make this clearer.

Am I right in thinking that the number eg (x8) is the number of banks, rather than chips?

Would the number of ranks have an impact too?

Thanks,

A
