tpmcg
Following system: Antec True 430 MSI K7N2 DELTA2Platinum Athlon XP3000 MSIFX5700LE-TD128 TWINX1024-3200C2PT Having stability problems windows crashes. Memtest runs with no errors but Prime95 gives rounding error within 1 minute. Swapped RAM to different system (K7N2GM2/XP2700) problem followed RAM. Not overclocking Running 200FSB, CAS 3-3-3-7. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 1, 2005 Do you have a 333 FSB CPU? If so that would be the issue as you would need to run the memory frequency at 100% or 1 to 1 with the CPU or it will cause a bottelneck in the chipset and may generate this type of error. tpmcg
No I have 400 FSB. Any other ideas? Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 1, 2005 Please test the modules one at a time and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts as well.
tpmcg
Tried modules one at a time using the same DIMM slot, timings set to auto (3-3-3-8), and 2.7V. First module encountered a rounding error in less than a minute. The second ran fine for 10 minutes so I tried increasing the timings to the advertised 2.5-3-3-6 and the system locked up running Prime95. Put back to auto and it ran Prime 95 overnight with no errors. Looks like a bad module, but shouldn't this system run at the faster timings as well? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 2, 2005 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/Optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200C2 CPU Freq: 200 MHz (400 FSB) System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Resulting Frequency: 200 MHz (400 FSB) Memory Timing: User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T DDR Reference Voltage: 2.75/2.8 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
tpmcg
I cannot get either module to run at 2.5-3-3-6. DIMM @ 2.75V, AGP @ 1.6V. The "good" module boots and loads windows but locks up as soon as an application is opened. The "bad" module gets a constant blue screen error on booting and continuously reboots. I did not run Memtest since I do not currently have a floppy on this machine and I did not see the point given the above. I have previously run Memtest w/both modules installed at 3-3-3-8 and it ran for 12 hours w/no errors.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 9, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 9, 2005 That would suggest some other problem, can you test the modules in another system? And I have no problem replacing your modules, but what you have posted so far would suggest some other problem.
tpmcg
I have already tried the modules in another system and the rounding problem follows the RAM. The Corsair modules will not run above 3-3-3-8 in either sytem, but cheap Kingston value RAm runs at 2.5-3-3-7. The rounding error in Prime95 takes longer (20 vs 1 min.) to occur in the other system but it is only rrunning XP2700 w/333 FSB and ram freq.
