c_zagarskas
During some kind of "shortage" of coolant I ended up ordering 1 bottle of XL8 and 1 of XL5 and just now noticed they are "not exactly the same product" Some cursory searches of Google lead me to believe I can mix these in my system with no problems... I figure its prudent to ask: "Can I mix XL8 and XL5 in the same system?"
c-attack
It would be better not to mix as they are not identical and have different branding for more than just marketing reasons. Your loop isn’t going to fall apart, but foamy coolant can be a real pain. It seems XL5 is now discontinued for most markets and the XL8 is the only product going forward. We’ve been looking for confirmation on that.
Zone55555
They are very very different as one smell will tell you, so don't take any chances.
LeDoyen
Anyway it's good to flush the loop when you do its maintenance. Refill it with DI water and power on with the 24 pin dongle to dilute the coolant remnants, and flush it away, before refilling with new coolant. problem solved 😉
c_zagarskas
interesting... glad I asked. Anyone want to trade some XL8 for my XL5? lol Ideally I want XL8 in the loop.
